What does an Operations & Account Manager actually do? Today we introduce to you our Operations & Account Manager Dennis. He acts as an interface between customers and service providers in the direction of warehousing and ensures that the processes between them run smoothly.

Who are you?
I am Dennis, born in Hamburg and, apart from a short time in Auckland, have remained loyal to the Hanseatic city. At odc, I have been supporting the operations team since May 2018.

How did you get to logistics and to odc?
I have always felt at home in the areas of logistics and e-commerce. Through my training as a logistics specialist, an extra-occupational evening course with a focus on logistics management, almost 9 years of work experience in a medium-sized logistics service provider and some time with an e-commerce start-up, I was able to gain sufficient experience in these fields.

After all, I felt like taking on a new challenge and helping to build something new and promising. Thus, the field of logistics offers so much more than just dusty warehouses and is currently undergoing a great change. This is exactly where odc comes in. We aim to digitize the industry and make processes as customer-friendly, lean and transparent as possible. This combination of e-commerce and logistics convinced me immediately.

What are your tasks as Operations & Account Manager?
I am responsible for ensuring that the processes between sales, our customers and our service providers are running as smoothly as possible. In addition to the operative support of major customers, this also includes the control of our service providers as well as the continuous optimization of processes in the direction of our warehouses.

What is the best thing about your work?
No two days are the same. In this case this is not a phrase, but reality. And then there’s our great team: I really enjoy working in an international environment with people from so many different cultures.

Is there anything you would like to resign from?
Nothing. 🙂

Why do you do what you do?
I am motivated by the opportunity to use odc to bring a “fresh breeze” into the diverse but still somewhat “dusty” field of logistics and to change this market sustainably. The whole thing, in combination with the constantly growing e-commerce sector and the chance to contribute to the successful performance of an aspiring start-up, fascinates and motivates me day after day.

What should I bring with you to work as Operations & Account Manager?
The ability to stay calm in stressful situations and set the right priorities. A healthy hands-on mentality and the desire to face new challenges should not be missing, too.
